Montana Stream Access Rally - Sept 17, 2026
The Montana Stream Access Rally was established by a coalition of businesses and nonprofit organizations to recognize and celebrate Montana’s stream access laws while also raising awareness around ongoing threats to what many consider the gold standard for public water access in the United States.
The Montana Stream Access Rally encourages citizens to stay engaged with lawmakers and public officials, educates the public on the importance and history of Montana’s stream access laws, and promotes awareness of ongoing legislative and legal challenges that could impact public access to the state’s rivers and streams.
On October 2, 2024, a rally in Bozeman, Montana celebrated the state’s stream access laws and raised awareness about growing threats to what many consider the gold standard for public water access in the United States. For more than 50 years, Montanans have strongly supported these laws, which remain increasingly challenged by wealthy out-of-state interests and ongoing development pressure.
